We've come a LONG way-----

While reading through the Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 articles, I especially enjoyed reading "Advocacy: a ripple effect". It reminded me of the "old" days of our library when the Websters dictionary and the World Book were the most important reference materials in the library. When you had to look it up in a book. Way back, before computers, Google, YouTube, uploading, downloading, etc. Times have changed and so have our libraries. Today, there are an endless supply of new technologies and our libraries are working hard to keep up with the new trends. Keeping our patrons "up-to-date" with computer classes and providing new technical services is all a part of our everyday jobs. Oh, Webster is still there, a little dusty - but still there as a reminder of where we came from.

Rollyo - LibraryThing

I have explored the world of Rollyo. I really did not spend a lot of time there, as I do not think it is a search tool I would use. I found the instructions confusing. However, I did enjoy using the LibraryThing site. (I guess it is a cataloger thing) Makes you feel you have made good choices in reading when you see the large number of others who have selected the same books for their favorites list. This is a site I will definitely visit again

Online image generator....what fun!

Had a lot of fun playing with all the generator sites, found that most are easy to use. Added one to my blog. Hope it is still working. Had made another one, but after a week it disappeared from my site....have no idea where it went. In it's place was just a blinking dot...So if you see a "drink"/glass with the words " 23 Things - Half way there" on it, floating in cyber space, it is mine. I know, Nancy probably drank it!! ha

RSS feeds - MERLIN

Bloglines account has been set up....and feeds have been added. Will check frequently to make sure I have accomplished this feat successfully. This is something I will probably not use a lot. However in my searching, I discovered Googlereader. To me, Googlereader is much easier to use. I am currently searching through MERLIN....will take me a while to investigate all that is there.

Keeping up with technology...

Well, I am finally starting to understand some of the functions of my cell phone (with my teenage granddaughters help). About the time I know partly what I am doing, it will be time to trade it in for a newer and more improved version. So technology goes....always moving forward, always changing. Sometimes challenging....sometimes frustrating.
